1792-1835: Francis II (Habsburg)

-growing debt crisis from War of the French Revolution (1792-1804).html) and Second French War (1821-32).html)
-which causes him to have to convene Diet and it ends up with them being very upset when he tells them to fuck off

1835-1849: Ferdinand V (Habsburg)

-being mentally ill, under influence of reactionary wife refuses to call Hungary's diet
-but engages in various unconstitutional acts when forcing it to pay money
-with French Wars > Third French War (1847-54)) now needs increasing levels of money
-in 1849 forced to convene diet by pure circumstance
-when royal representative orders diet to give him taxes, they refuse him and knock him out
-when rumors arrive that he's coming back with troops Hungarian Diet declares independence

Palatines of Hungary

1849-1850: István Széchenyi

-leads war effort in French Wars > Third French War (1847-54))
-succeeds due to Austrian government having weak army and distracted
-retires after a nervous break

1850-1855: Aurél Dessewffy

-a considerably more moderate voice than Széchenyi
-suppresses radical revolt in Pest with extreme brutality
-with end of war some talk of establishing a republic
-but aristocracy of Hungary really hates this idea
-and Dessewffy views republicanism as an evil ideology
-instead establishes a monarchy for an independent state
-and despite talk of electing a noble this is refused because too many divisions for an insider

Kings of Hungary (independent)

1855-1870: Frigyes (Württemberg)

-this guy
-family having been ousted from his kingdom in Germany in Second French War (1821-32).html) and redeemed with Hildesheim
-faced with a growing surge of Magyarization
-and he accepts this wholly
-also opposes movement for an increase of the electorate
-and suppresses republican revolts and conspiracies
-industrial growth sees emergence of middle-class who are entirely dispossessed from power
-autocratic and aristocratic administration turns Hungary from an inspiring success story into something grimmer

1870-1892: Vilmos (Württemberg)

-in French Wars > Fourth French War (1880-4)) signs treaty with Germany making Hungary neutral
-really pisses the shit out of radicals
-assassinated along with Heads of Germany > 1869-1892 Karl VIII (Habsburg)) because considered too close in his alliance
-republicans declare throne of Hungary vacant and declare a republic against the rotten aristocrats
